Welcome to my blog!

I am currently in my fourth year of teaching third grade. I am very fortunate to be able to teach mostly military kids. I have a huge passion for working with these students, as growing up I was a military child. 

I created this blog to continue to grow as an educator, continue to get ideas and occasionally share ideas. I love reading aloud to students. I believe it is a great way to engage in positive classroom environment and a great way to engage in student discussions. 

On the left is a book I've recently been reading to my class. It is A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood written by Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers). The book is entirely made up of poems. My class has been learning a lot about poems lately, and this book was a huge success. It became so popular that when transitioning between specials my students requested I would read poems aloud in the hall. 

I love finding extraordinary and creative ways to engage my students in rigorous thinking. I believe every child can accomplish great things, and as teachers we can instill a love of learning to our students.
